Candice's Comments

It is wonderful to have a full staff again! Rebecca Russell began June 1 as our church secretary and is doing a tremendous job. She has already blessed us with informative bulletins, colorful PowerPoints, and, as you read this, you are seeing her first Portrait. She has a delightful personality and infectious smile!

Kendra Young’s first Sunday as Child Care Attendant was June 8. Kendra recently
graduated from Colfax-Mingo High School and will be taking classes in the fall at DMACC. Her educational focus is early childhood education. Kendra has taken initiative to “neaten up” the nursery to make it a safe and welcoming place for infants through three year olds.

Don Agee continues as our gifted Organist. What a blessing he has been to our worship
experiences! He brings joy and delight to his music, whether it is an old-time favorite or a modern hymn.

Stephanie Collins is our faithful Custodian. Because of her efforts, we are welcomed into a clean building as we worship and meet and serve. And so are the other congregations who worship in the Capitol Hill building and the numerous organizations.

As I reflect on the fact that we have a full staff again, I am reminded of chapter 2 of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, which says:

You have all come together in Christ Jesus.
Jesus has brought you all together, and close to God.
Now you are like a big family!
You are all now members of God’s family
and Christians everywhere are now citizens of God’s household.
We are being built together, like a house that has strong and firm foundations;
built on the apostles and prophets,
and each person is like a brick, with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone
that keeps all the other bricks from falling in on each other.
Together, we all build the house; we are each important
and together we make a beautiful dwelling place for God.

                                                                        Celebrating our togetherness in Christ,
                                                                             Pastor Candice
