During this season of Epiphany, the magi brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the Christ Child and were given the gift of revelation in a dream.
The leaders of Capitol Hill Christian Church for 2013 brought their gifts symbolically to the Christ Child on Installation Sunday. On a gift card, they wrote the gift they offer in their position of leadership and placed it at the manger.
They offered :
faithfulness, professionalism, and awareness,
leadership, welcome, and service,
help, love, and assistance,
knowledge, a listening ear, and smiles,
to pay the bills, to greet one another and to share God’s Word at the Table,
to enhance worship and to welcome the gifts of others,
to share their time and to serve home communion,
to give their best
As we begin 2013 with new leadership, we welcome all gifts, bless all gifts, and rejoice over all gifts. We will need all of our gifts as God leads us on an amazing journey this year. We will travel through:
Detroit, Michigan, and Los Fresnos, Texas, on mission trips,
Budgets and building campaigns, potato bakes and fish fries,
The Christian Conference Center for camps and conferences,
Wednesday Night Lives and Worship and Wonders,
Orlando, Florida, for General Assembly,
Lawn mowing, funeral dinners, wedding celebrations,
birthday and anniversary parties,
Liberia, Africa to welcome Mercy Tennih to Des Moines,
Worship and prayer and study
What amazing gifts will God reveal to us as we make this journey? What gifts will we discover in ourselves and in one another that we didn’t even know about? How will God use our gifts to build relationships and further God’s “kingdom” throughout the earth?
It promises to be an exciting journey in 2013, and I look forward to sharing it with you.
Blessings,
Candice
