Candice's Comments

Sabbatical is quickly approaching. I am looking forward to this time of rest and renewal from May 5 – July 5. The Sabbatical Team of Margaret Blom, Lindsey Buehler, Rod Green and Sheryl Hove have provided a strong framework for the congregation’s ministry to grow and thrive while I am away. Both the congregation and I will be changing, learning, and venturing into new areas.

How will God transform us as pastor and congregation in mission and ministry?
What new and expanded insights will we receive?
How will we be called to surrender our wills to God’s will?
Who will step forth to lead exciting and creative new ministries?

The possibilities of what is ahead for us as pastor and congregation are limitless. These are indeed exciting days in our life together.

Capitol Hill will be blessed by the pastoral leadership of Rev. Don Hiscox while I am on Sabbatical. He will inspire you with his preaching, bless you with his pastoral care, and challenge you with his administrative guidance.

The congregation will also be blessed by the leadership of the Executive Team (Lindsey Buehler, Linda Grathwohl, and Stephanie Collins) as well as the Eldership (Joyce Blakesley, Margaret Blom, Brian Collins, Luci Collins, Stephanie Collins, and Jeff Kerns). Our homebound members will receive compassionate care from Visitation Elder, Rod Green.

Secretary Rebecca Russell will continue to keep the office wheels running smoothly with her warm smile and gracious spirit. She will complete her first year of service with Capitol Hill on June 1 and I give thanks daily for the Personnel Committee’s wise choice in selecting her as Secretary.

I am grateful for the opportunity to let go of my pastoral responsibilities to be renewed in body and spirit. I give thanks to God for each of you. Even though I will not be in contact with you, you will be close to me in prayer.

Blessings,
Pastor Candice
